Trust in the Lord
Trust in the Lord with ALL
of your heart.
Lean not on your own
understanding. Why Trust God?
The answer is simple…BECAUSE HE IS LOVING AND HE
KNOWS THE BEST WAY. Our
privilege as sons and daughters is to remember that He does love us and
always does what is right. It may not be what we want…or how
we want
it…or when we want it, but as they say “hindsight is 20 / 20,”
and when
we follow God’s way we able to look back and see that is always true. The Israelites had no clue when they were standing on the waters edge, with the enemy closing in, what was going to happen. They just had a promise…and that at the moment I’m sure many of them had forgotten about it. But God came through. With all of our “wisdom” and common sense, to rely on what we cannot see or understand is something most of us tend to run from. But God calls us to do that very thing. He wants us to rely on His power even when we think we have enough. He wants us to listen to His wisdom even when we think we have the answer. Asking Him FIRST (and seeking counsel if need be) about the best way to proceed says a lot about who we trust most…ourselves or God. Acknowledge Him in all your ways. Saul (Old Testament) did not inquire of the Lord and wound up in trouble. To acknowledge Him is to realize He is there (as scripture says we must believe that He exists) but also that He cares and is very interested in what we are doing and probably has some good input to add to our decisions and happenings. I’m sure most of us at one time had someone we care about make a decision that should have included our input. We may have felt a little left out or even hurt. I wonder how God feels when we, his children, make regular decisions without even finding out what He thinks. I’m sure there is a certain amount of disappointment He feels when we don’t seek Him…but I can imagine Him thinking, like any good dad does, “Please just ask me and I will show you the best way.” Ask Him. Seek Him. He desperately wants to bless and make our path straight…and in the process make us more like Him. There are many things we need to do in our lives and not one of them is outside of the concern of our God. Banking, jobs, vacations, purchases, relationships, schedules, kids involvement in activities etc. He will show us what is best if we will just ask. Rob S. |
